Here's my AT12IN on a CGEM-DX mount, just inches from scrapping the ceiling, and short a counterweight in this picture. The weather and my health has conspired to limit the use I have got out of it so far. In the meantime, I'm getting a few options that weight less. Hopefully, that'll get me back in the game :-)

My solution to the problem of rapid deployment of an 8" f/6.7 Teton/Spooner Newtonian. The G-11 pedestal is mounted without legs to keep the centre of gravity low and to allow seated observing even at the zenith with an appropriate observing chair.

Another view. The POD in the background holds my TEC140 which now I use as a permanently aligned astrophotography setup. For a few years now I have been swapping the TEC140 with an 8" Mak whenever planet season comes around, but I figured I'd try this new approach to see how it works, since it's a hassle to swap scopes. The idea is that I can leave the refractor set up and then this Newtonian lives in a shed and can be quickly deployed for visual use on planets. I've only had it a few weeks (I got it for the Mars opposition) but so far the two-scope solution is working out reasonably well... time will tell if I continue to go with this approach, or simply build a roll-off observatory that can hold two scopes at once (the POD is too small). So far I am finding that the Newtonian is about as good as my TEC Mak on planets (which is in turn a bit better on planets than the TEC140, which is itself no slouch).

Really nice, Bill. A few years ago, if you would have said that you have a 20" Newt and could be seated while viewing, you would have been committed! How great is it to have a 20" Newt and not bother with a step stool or ladder?!

Very nice looking scope Bill! I have never looked through a 20 inch, I can just imagine what things look like in there compared to my 10"

I likely would if I could and had the spare time as I find that even now with 3 2"holes I could still use more..........and now am sure I would not be the only one thinking that. Will give it some thought and see what comes....I actually picked this one up out of a box of misc. telescope items I bought off eBay. Re-sold the rest. thanks for the suggestion though.

I've had the mount for a few years but, just purchased the OTA a week ago. This will be my primary imaging rig I believe. It's the 8-inch, f/4.9 Orion Newtonian OTA. Planets look excellent in this too!
