I couldn't get Deep Sky Stacker to work. On the laptop I got out of memory errors (It has 2 gigs on it) and on the home pc, it flat out doesn't even start..I get errors.

Gonna have to figure this out

Criterion, I am surprised by this. By far DSS has been the least painful free astronomical software. In fact, this is in the category of "pleasure to use"! Maybe you could post your query in the DSS Yahoo group, and see what may be happening.

My home pc is odd, it has issues.

But the laptop is a puzzler, I load in 5 pics, and hit the register and stack, and after a few minutes, I get an out of memory error.

I'll read the manual.

Did you by any chance have the "enable 2x drizzle" or "enable 3x drizzle" checked? If you did the files become huge and so does the memory needed.

I turned off the 2x drizzle and had the memory. DSS ran. Question: I stacked 5 pics, but afterwards, the header still said it was one 2 minute exposure, rather than 5 exposures equal to 10 minutes. So I used the DSS Live! and got a stacked picture.

As for my home PC, still no go, I'll have to send the error to the author for help.

A few books for the 450/XSi are coming out soon, check Amazon
