Can someone point me to user reviews of the Sky Window and/or using Oberwerk binoculars with them. I don't mind hearing some passionate opinions if you have them.

Hi Roland,
Several years ago I made a homemade version of the Sky Window and I did like it. I used a first surface mirror from Surplus Shed, and used it with different binoculars, (10x50, 15x70, 20x60) of 3 different brands. I found that the 10x50's were fine, but when I went to the 15x70's and 20x60's I could see a slight reflection in the mirrors back surface and stars were no longer pinpoints. So I liked them at 10x. One thing I really enjoyed was the comfort factor as I was no longer straining my neck to look up.

I have a Trico mirror with the Gold Premium mirror upgrade, and use it with my Fuji 16x70's... works good.

Like mine with 7x50 binos. Extremely comfortable, one can use them for hours on end. Get the laser pointer option. I'll be hanging on to it until there are some good 90 degree choices on the market.

Roland--
I have never used Sky Window. However, I am an admirer of your sketches and your work with children. I hope you consider using Sky Window. And if you do, I also hope you consider sharing the binocular sketches (yours and the children's) here on Cloudy Nights.

Thanks everyone for looking and suggestions. While I still have not seen a review (outside of s&t), a fellow sketcher (rodelat/CN name) uses one successfully and is currently posting wonderful sketches. My wife and I are convinced: we will get one. It is just a question of which upgrade (probably at least one) and will probably go with their recommended binoculars for a start. I can find no negatives about them. They are not the very best but seem to please users with the sky window. Bob...my posts are pretty much always on the sketching forum or you can go to Members Galleries under rolandlinda3 to see them. Of course, they are mixed in with telescope and naked eye view sketches.
Haiti will be a first test of our curriculum with small scopes and binoculars. I am depending on the binocular use to be the most used tool by the teachers/lay leaders, who will then teach children with the same tools. Of course, we are teaching sketching and the use of an observation sheet as the result of whatever they do. We shall see how it goes. Ask me in a couple weeks ....Roland

Thanks for checking, Edz. That is pretty much what I found. Like some products in the astro world, they stay sort-of hidden...they are lower production but very good products. What got my attention was rodelaet's sketch work. He is very good, but when he started telling me about using the Trico Sky Window and we saw the results, it was a wake-up call. With my physical limits standing and my wife's, it is going to be a great tool for steady study and sketching with binoculars. Roland
