Hi,
a tough job entering against all those marvelous Jupiters.
But it´s still there and got more and more interesting: Saturn and his storms.
First a contrasted overview, showing at least 3 dark respectively light spots in the STrZ. Instrument: 8-inch Newtonian.
Smoothly processed.
And a bit more sharpened.
Hope it got your interest too, best regards
Torsten

This is an excellent picture Torsten! I just got the dmk and took some avis of the moon tonight. Saturn looks amazing, and at all of your pictures you can see the storm, the big one.

Last one is AWESOME! Not sure I count all three, but I'm very impressed for an 8" How'd you rate the seeing?

Mike, many thanks for your comments.
I guess it´s been a 5-6/10. There were some moments, when you could see the CD quite clear in the red channel. In contrast the CD was hardly visible in the blue channel.
As an example, I attached a slightly sharpened stack of the blue channel out of app. 200 frames. You also can compare this one with a slightly sharpened stack of the red channel in the next answer.
Regards
Torsten

Below, a first impression of the storm area 1 week earlier.
The images are composed out of 2 videos (R and G channel).
A few sharpening variations of each stack were added and those results added again.
Due to bad seeing, with no information in the B-channel concerning the storm, I didn´t try an RGB.
Well, I believe in the inverted vision there are 3 dark spots visible.

Torsten

Hi all,
data processing is going on. Here´s the latest effort on the data from May 14.
The videos about half an hour before showed fair to good seeing and the storm area between the CM.
I also made an enlargement, trying to show some structure in the storm area.
It would be nice if anybody could confirm this!
Edit: In the raw images archive of the Cassini-Mission I found 2 non-processed images (so called not validated/calibrated images), which show the storm region on 05/19/2008:
--- Cassini pic 1 - storm
--- Cassini pic 2 - storm.
The varied structure of the storm region is obvious. Unfortunately there are no images from 05/14/2008. The reason is, that the cameras were viewing the ring system.
Regards
Torsten
