Okay Jeff will do, both my parents and mother-in-law are quite excited to be at this star party. I certainly hope we get at least one excellent clear night.
As bad as the weather has been for so very long, we are certainly due for a good night or two or maybe, dare I say it, even three!

I usually take my Brass Behemoth (6" F/15), but I'm leaving it at home this time. That's usually how people find me. Since you have your "The Beast", I won't need it. LOL!

Yes, please do (come see through the Beast). The Chesmont members should be pretty much together, and we are a bit of a wild bunch with large scopes.
Also, you can't miss the Beast when it's set-up (as the pic can attest to), for it looks like it's ready to shoot down the Evil Orb....

Dave or Jeff, Do either of you (or anyone else) know of the status of the new hot showers and running water restrooms at Cherry Springs? Has ASH indicated the number of admissions sold?

According to what was said at the last ASH meeting the flush toliets are supposedly working.
There won't be any showers at Cherry Springs. They are planned for Lyman Run.
I believe the number of registrations is around 200.

I'll see if I can find out. The rest rooms should have been done long ago. They had the concrete poured last fall. At that time I heard they were going to nix the showers since there are showers not too far away, and the cost of building/maintaining them. I'll see if I can get in touch with Chip and find out. I have my own shower so it doesn't matter to me.

Go ahead, bask in all of that luxury and convenience and make the primitive among us feel bad. In about ten days, the natural enzymes on my skin and hair will kick in and I won't smell so bad. Of course, if only 200 show up, that's about 4 people per acre and only a strong breeze will waft my presence downwind. This is the reason I'm reluctant to get the big observatory. When people enter after me, they start looking around the floor for something dead. It can be embarrassing, so I was hoping for the shower installation.

I've had my share of Odorifous Emanations! It's only been since last spring that I picked up this old 1979 Class C Motorhome. We've endured the gathering of flies, and vultures circling around me for many years so when the opportunity arose, I swooped on it. And it was on the "easy payment plan". It's only a hand shower, but it's good enough to keep the flies away! The public showers up the road are kept very clean and are well worth the trip. A lot of people use them and are very happy. And it's usually pretty easy to hitch a ride if you can't drive up yourself. Especially if you're upwind from them! I usually try to park on the western side of the field so the "prevailing westerlies" keep me upwind.

Registrations are now closed? I live about 35 miles east of State College. Dave, is it possible to still register by hand delivery?

Since a number of registration slots still remain, ASH has decided to accept registrations at the gate.

Chris,
Will you bring the mansion? I have a lot of lenses and cameras to try out, including a hyper plus, color Mallincam specially selected by Rock. I'll probably have to locate in the Cherry Spring ghetto area because of mount noise and possible accidental glow with the Mallincam monitor. I hate it when serious astronomers throw things at me and my telescope.

Probably no mansion this time Ken. Should I go I have to be able to pick up at a moments notice and hit the road (wife is due in mid/ late June). Perhaps if we setup close to each other this year my annoyingness will completely cancel out your loud mount My buddy Al will be taking a pop up camper and I may just stay with him.

Chris,
I'll be there on the 27th if it isn't raining, same general area so I'll be sure to save you a spot next to the roadway.

The noise won't bother me. I'm used to the coffee-grinder sounds of Meades. LOL! And we can always set up a little "blind" to shade your mallincam display monitor. Bring a couple of brown tarps and poles and we'll fix you right up.

Jeff,
My mount is indistinguishable from a freshly started, still frosty, idling Cummins diesel. Poor Jerry, the engineer next to me with an observer's tent kept popping his head out during slews last September; no doubt thinking he was about to be backed over by a bus

It is a star *party*, and a parking lot all rolled into one. Not a library. Plenty of noise can be expected.
