All these dang posts in the CPC forum... made me order a CPC 1100 today.
Of course, the $200 rebate didn't hurt either!

Congrats! Hope you enjoy yours at least as much as I'm enjoying mine.
OK, while I'm sure you already have a lot of equipment, let us know what you plan to add to your set up. I think it always helps folks to get a consenus of what others, especially those with previous scope experience, think important.

Thanks guys!
I finally figured it out! The CPC 1100 is actually a combination of the best features of my two favorite telescopes - my C11 and my NexStar 5i!
I've been hooked on GOTO scopes ever since I had an LX-200 years ago. My little 5i does a great job but it's only 5". Obviously I can see more through the C11, but it doesn't have the 'coolness factor' of GOTO! The CPC 1100 has it all!
Thanks for the encouragement!

letimotif,
Funny you should mention it...
First, since the CPC 1100 will be permanently mounted in my roll-off which has power, I ordered Orion's Bluestar wireless controller. While I don't keep a computer in the observatory, it's easy to carry out a laptop. Using Cartes du Ciel and the Bluestar to move the scope should provide an easy way to plan and observe an evening's objects.
The other thing I've thought about is an 80mm Finder, but I'm not sure about that. From what I've been reading, the stock finder setup - especially the bracket - leaves something to be desired. Originally, I thought of using just a 'red dot' since that's all I use on my C11 (to find alignment stars for my digital setting circles).
On the other hand, while I consider the Schmidt-Cassegrain the most versatile design commercially available, it has a relatively narrow field of view. An 11" f/10 really doesn't do justice to objects like Andromeda, the Pleiades, the Double Cluster, etc. A piggybacked 80mm could double as an RFT for larger objects.
But, I don't want to put the 'cart before the horse'. I'll have a better idea when the 1100 arrives.

The only thing I did not like about the stock finder is the straight through viewing. Had shingles in my neck a few years back so the range of motion is not what it should be. The pox on all straight through finders!
Oddly enough a telerad or rigel is not quite at bad.
Use it a bit before you start to outfit it with third party gizmo's and bozmik's. A few things may pop out right away for changes and other things you'll wonder why folks bother.

"A good chair is a great place to start."
Indeed! I use a drafting chair in the observatory. It's similar to the typical office chair, but has more vertical movement. Perfect for me at the telescope!

Don,
I hope there's another Manteno than the one in Illinois. If you're in Illinois you've just set me up for at least 2 weeks of clouds. when the clouds clear please shot us a first light, will ya?

Thanks, Bill!
Actually, I'm going to a buddy's dark site in northwest Illinois late next week. So, I'd gladly trade cloudy skies when the scope arrives for clear skies later!
