Anyone got some new additions to their Meteorite collection? I'm getting a "Moon" rock from Mike shortly, to keep my Mars sample company!

Hi, Carol.
This is one of my newer pieces. It's a nice, almost fully crusted (%90) sample of Sayh Al Uhaymir 001, an L4/5 chondrite from Oman. This sample is 75.5g. The crust is nice and fresh looking. The bottom end has a couple of windows through the crust but these are hidden when I put it in the stand. I've seen pics of cut samples and they're really beautiful inside. I'd love to get a slice to go with this individual.
Clear skies.

To my personal collection, I have added the following in recent weeks -
NWA 001 small part slice - the very first NWA meteorite to be classified and receive the NWA designation. It's an L6 chondrite from Kem Kem Morocco. I also have a second slice of this one on the way.
D'Orbigny micromount - a tiny piece of this angrite meteorite, which may be from Mercury.
2 more small Gibeon etched irons - about 4 grams each.
Moss (a recent impactor/hammer carbonaceous chondrite from Norway 2006)
Travis(b) several grams of fragments - an unusual meteorite from Texas that was initially misclassified.
NWA 4685 - a beautiful CV3 minislice of about 2 grams - gorgeous chondrules and CAI's. polished on both sides.
A larger Bensour individual - about 4 grams with mostly fusion crust.
A very small Brahin mini slice (about 2 grams) with translucent olivine.
A small etched Taza slice.
I haven't had time to get photos done, but I'll try to get some posted soon.

Money's been tight lately, so I have been concentrating on micromounts. I still have some holes in my collection that I need to fill - mostly rare types. After I have all of the types represented in some form (even if it's a tiny speck), then I want to acquire some more historic falls like Ensisheim - but Ensi won't come cheap, so it's on the back-burner so to speak.

Mike, I wasn't aware that someone had associated a find as coming from Mercury. Do you have more info on that one? That would definitely be cool to add.

Hi Steve,
Here is a link to the abstract of the article : "Unique Angrite NWA 2999: The Case For Samples From Mercury"
http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2005AGUFM.P51A0898I
That article dates from 2005. AFAIK, since then, the case has gotten a bit stronger and has widened to include all angrites. I'll have to go dig through the MAPS archive and see if I can find a more recent article about it. I'll post it here (or in a seperate thread) when I find it.
Regards,
MikeG
