gstar-ex question
      #2407462 - 05/20/08 02:15 AM

what is your option on this camera compared to others on the market. the price is really tempting. $795 for camera, colored filters, control box and metal carrying case.i know, the millicam is probably the best but my budget cant see it plus, the gstar has a hand box controller were the millicam don't. im trying the decide between a canon dslr or one of these video cameras. thanks, don

Very nice indeed (I have two). A very good camera for the price and incredibly sensitive. For me the best aspect is the ability too access a miriad of settings via a serial cable attached to a computer. Brilliant for the work I like doing in asteroidal research. I can do everything remotely (IE in the warm!).

BUT it has limited by integtation time (about 2 seconds) so the watec 120N+ may be better if you need that extra depth for faint Galaxies.

If you want to do imaging, then by an imaging device rather than a video camera - the Meade DSI Pro for example knocks the spots of all the video cameras in that regard - but that's not what this board is about!
