Erika,

Excellent work on those sketches and nice report!! I know that these targets are not the easiest to go after with an 80mm.

Not only do you master the sun and the moon, you're also very good at sketching DSO's.

I look forward to more...

Erika,

Great sketching. These are tough enough targets for telescopes of twice the diameter. The inverted pairing is an excellent touch. Very nice Erika.

Frank

Thank you Rony. I was actually thinking of you a few times last night during my observation because of how successful you are using smaller aperture on DSO's. It took me a while to find M108, even though I knew I had my scope pointed in right area. I don't use GOTO, in fact I don't bother aligning my scope at night most of the time. I unlock the clutches, using my Telrad as a finder, then when I'm in the neighborhood, I lock the clutches and slew in slow motion until I find the target, letting the mount track for me afterwards. It sure felt good once I finally detected it.

Thank you, Frank. I've got new trusses and clamps ordered from Moonlight for my dob. Once they get here, I'll be able to start using the truss for hunting down DSO's again. This ED80 sure is a sweet scope though and half the fun is trying to find the really hard targets for a scope that size....well hard for me, seeing as how I usually observe the most obvious star in the neighborhood.

Very nice, Erika. I don't think I remember seeing your DSO sketches before but I am sure you have done them. Roland
