The Oregon Star Party registration for 2008 is now up and running for
registration, either by mail-in form, or by credit card on-line using our
paypal account (you do not need a paypal account to use your credit card).
Pre-Registration will be open through July 31st and if you wish to purchase
an OSP 2008 T-shirt you must be pre-registered by August 1st. We also
provide pre-registered attendees decals, badges, and observers guide. If you
wait and register on-site, they may not be available.
Returning this year will be Mary with the Chuck Wagon and Shawna with the
Espresso Blast. They are planning on being up and running for dinner on
Wednesday and open until lunchtime on Sunday. Nomad ISP will again have the
internet satellite service available, and the ever popular shower truck is
back.
The OSP committee is busy lining up speakers and activities for this year's
outing. We will be updating the on-line schedule as we lock in the speakers
and activity times. Check the website for the latest updates.
Jan Keiski is signing up volunteers, Mark Dakins and Bernie Kuehn are
looking for mentors, and Howard Knytych is lining up some great speakers.
It's the volunteers that really make the star party work well. Check the
website for opportunities to volunteer.

OSP has probably the best skies of any of the major star parties. It's amazingly dark out there. A well run event, too.

Tom, yes, the dark skies keep me flying cross country annually despite the cost of the flight etc. Well, the dark skies keep me coming, but it is also the folks from the Pacific NW that make it truly special. Bill

Hi Jane, hope you can make it back again this year. We still have the showers, hot drinks late at night, Noman ISP and Mary's Chuckwagon Star Burgers. It's always a great location when the milky way is considered light pollution. We've got a great lineup of speakers and activities again this year. Hope to see you there. Larry Godsey, Director

I was thinking of changing my handle to Starburger, since I grab one each night about midnight, and then wash it down with a hot double mocha. Only two plus months to dark sky time!

Hi Bill, As long as they don't think of OSP as Old Sour Puss.
Registration is a bit slow this year, but we've still got 6 weeks before we close the advance registration. I should have the new observing lists up on the oregonstarparty.org site later today. The hard list is really tough and will definitely take some advance planning. Larry

Just yet another reminder, only 30 days left to pre-register and save some $$, plus get the shirt, sweat, or hooded sweatshirt that you have been waiting a year to get! Please sign up soon so you don't miss the deadline.
