Listen to Phoenix descend
      #2434835 - 06/02/08 11:18 AM

A data recorder on board Mars Express captured the sounds of Phoenix descending!

Listen to Phoenix descend

Oh, man, I love that!
There was one like that for the sound of the Huygens probe descent, too. Just amazing!
Thanks, LadyA, for posting that.

Very cool, Rich!

Ya gonna share it with us?

On second thought... You can't since "Learning to Fly" is copyrighted.

However, it does sound like you are having fun with it.

There are several CDs out that use "Space Sounds" within the context of the music. Are you a fan of that genre?

I think that this resolves the old philosophical chestnut about trees falling in forests and sounds. It was accidental that this sound was picked up and we may have never heard it, but, yes, a sound was made. Quite remarkable.
