Jack, the only thing I was able to find out about the range is in this article and is over a year old. I use mine at short range, and it's just as fast as my land line. It states in the article that they were able to get HDTV at 180 feet, and we don't use that kind of bandwidth when broadcasting, so I'm sure for our purposes, we can go further. Take in to account that there are other routers out there that can give you much more range, but this one will smoke them in upload/download speeds, and it is made for streaming/gaming!

Hope this helps.
Neil

One thing that I forgot to mention, is you should check and see if your system is running a 802.11n or a 802.11g/b conection. If you hane a 802.11n conection, you will see far better range, and speed, but if you have a 802.11g/b conection, it will still out preform all the G routers out there. If you decided to go crazy (like I did) you can also buy a The D-Link Xtreme N Notebook ExpressCard or the The D-Link Xtreme N Notebook Adapter , depending on what card slot you have, and it will make your system 802.11n will much faster speeds, and range.

This might be overkill, but I'm now running on Sparkcast, with the settings cranked up as high as it will go, without any lag time. I am only 15 feet from the router though.

I have a super G router and wireless card in the observatory. I get 108Mbps speed and excellent signal strength, with about 80' between them. The router is in the house and the wireless card is in the back of observatory which is insulated with a double foil faced surfaces.

The real test, like I said, is going on Sparkcast and running at 640x480 (no reason to run higher because of the Mallincams native feed) 2000kbps, 25fps, and the high quality compression (more CPU) and still not have any lag time.

There is a site called http://www.bandwidthplace.com/ and it will give you a great idea on how fast you are running.

BTW Chris, those super G routers are the best ones for that type of network, and are better tested than the N routers

Thanks for the link Neil, I started a new thread with my results, I think I've strayed a bit from the original post
