At 2350 UT today on the suns northwest edge, a duel set of broken arches prominences; I rendered in small format directly from the eyepiece in 9" X 12" on Strathmore Artagain black pastel paper. A tilted hand drawn Sun globe and artists left hand in ambient accompaniment. -Mark
I was hoping to put this into the solar sktching forum but still unsure as to any of the ambient [other images that I render; ie; the hand] I was also not sure of the image after photographing- this being the first time using Strathmore Artagain paper. Its smoothness reflects light and I had to illiminate reflection to reduce surface noise of thepaper; contrasting up in Photoshop to compensate for this degraded the original image here online. I will re-photograph the image today- I see that Spaceweather posted it anyway today- Good to see that Steve Ames sketches are there too!

If you can get the Oregonian online, a JPL science writer interviewed me Saturday night in the Columbia Gorge at the Rose City Astronomers Star Party. They might also display some of my pastels in the artcile (and or photos of the public with astronomers group that I took)- Oregonian Science Section or the 'How We Live Today' section this coming Friday.
