In the Shadow of the Moon - Tonight
      #2477628 - 06/23/08 10:26 AM

Last night during the final episode of "When We Left Earth" there was a commercial advertising "In the Shadow of the Moon" to air tonight at 9:00PM on the Discovery Channel. I think this is the first television broadcast of it???

An awesome documentary, highly recommended if you missed its limited run in theaters last year and don't have the DVD. I saw it twice in theaters. Hate to think of the commercials breaking up the flow of it, but it's still well worth watching on TV if you haven't seen it.

Got it on DVD also guys ... an awesome and thought-provoking movie. Channel 4 (independent broadcaster on the main networks here) showed the movie about 2 weeks ago. Many of my friends saw it and praised it afterwards.

One of the cinemas here also had an astronomy lecture preceeding a public showing for school children one night. Each year the history syllabus for Leaving Certificate students in Ireland (17/18-year olds leaving high school) has a "Moment in History" that is compulsory for study. The Apollo programme was on the 2007/2008 history paper -- although more in the political context rather than pure space science per se.

All the best,

John

No...I believe this has been on before...

Verdict? Not bad and better than most despite falling for the usual temptation of covering too much in too little time.

I saw it at the Music Box Theater in Chicago, I have
the DVD now, it is possibly the finest documentary
I have ever seen.
