I find my Celestron 25x100 to be perfectly good for daytime use. Chromatic aberration is not that objectionable. What might be more problematic for really long distance viewing on sunny days is the swirling, shimmering atmosphere, which makes the scene look kind of like you're seeing it through boiling water. However, individual focus can be a bother if you often shift to targets at varying distances.

Hi all,

I ended up buying the 25x100's. I was told that they are in fact Oberwerk binoculars, which have been given rave reviews in America. I will buy a smaller pair for birding when the migration season starts at the end of the year.

As you can tell, I'm a relative novice, but when I get them, I will let fellow forum members know what I think. I'm getting them for my birthday which falls on 6th July.

Kenny, if you read this, do you ever see Kingfishers at Martin Mere during the winter? I'd love to see them and possibly take photo's, but I understand that its illegal to go near their nests during the spring and summer.

Thank you very body for your help.

Stephen

Hi Stephen ,

I can't personally remember seeing Kingfishers in winter at M.M. , but if you go to their website , most sightings are logged , so I'm sure it would be easy enough to find out .

Good luck
Kenny
