Adventures in Deep Space updated
      #2478605 - 06/23/08 06:49 PM

If you haven't checked out Adventures in Deep Space lately, Mark Wagner and I have started a major overhaul of the site. On the home page, you'll now find links to a number of deep sky and observing lists in Excel format, dozens of observing reports from Mark and I that go back to 2000 (lots of interesting targets) and my NGC/IC observing notes for over 7500 objects.

I'm planning to update many of the articles on the site with more recent notes and data and adding new observing articles such as observing HII regions in M33 and observing quasars.

Thanks, John, for the comments. The site's been around for quite a long time, but we're hoping to attract new visitors looking for challenging observing projects.

Steve, interesting to hear that you're updating your great website. Especially your story around large scale structure I always found VERY interesting + inspiring (and made me dive deeper into the topic recently). Thanks !

I never knew you had a list of your obs reports on your site as well. Amazing to see that you had 19 nights in 2008. That makes us cry out loud here in Europe, I've had 7 good nights this year only (incl 2 with strong moon interference).

Interesting to know your initiative on M33 as well. I also planned to drill deeping into this guy and have already started to. I was also planning to checkout some very luminous single stars in M33 as well (above my 17mag limit in my 20") - I'll gonna post *IF* it succeeds ... :-). Just waiting for a good night, hopefully next week (fingers crossed). Of course, I'll make sure to checkout your articles on M33. It's definitely a very interesting object (though often neglected by observers, I feel).

Thanks for your excellent website. I'm looking forward to your ongoing work on it ...

Peter
