C. 60mm x 910mm F=15       #2478865 - 06/23/08 09:09 PM Attachment (155 downloads) Edit   Reply   Quote Quick Reply   picked this up a few weeks ago and just put it together. this scope has some interesting things about it. in the pictures you will see compression eyepiece holder. squared off mount. the solar projection screen mounts where the finder goes. the RA rotates with a knob from under the mount. the porro screws to the focuser tube. notice the slo motion controls. one is flex and the other is a rigid rod. and the counter weight is counter bored to slide down over end of shaft. thei scope is in very good condition. box is solid with some light scratches. it came with 3 eyepieces and a barlow, and sun n moon filter. here are some pictures. any comments on age or carson in this era would be welcome. no paper work came with but there are japan stickers on almost all the parts. (and The CFO Is yelling At Me to Clear The Basement out some.) parts fit wood box like they were made for it. As Far As Fit They Must have Came In that box. it looks like it is same vintage there is some text on upper left inside of lid and it says S.K.W SAKAMASA TYPE-II then a Big letter A under That. ill post a picture. it looks like it might be a import stamp. i did a google and it is from Democratic Republic Of The Congo. maybe thats why it does not have Japan on The Focuser Tag it is a nice setup but somethings gotta give. i put one of my unitrons up but i just could not sell it so i have to think about it for a few days Again. I have always wondered about the history of this telescope. I have owned this very same scope for 30 years. I bought it from my friend who was the original owner. He recieved it as a gift from his dad in 1968 when his dad was working as a civilian for the defence department overseas in Viet Nam on some secret project. We were just kids then. I saw my first deep sky object through that telescope and I'm afraid to say, I was bitten. It did indeed come in that wooden box with two layers of styrofoam that holds every thing in their place. Did your scope come with the original magnetic 2 AA battery light? I still have everything that came with it including the .96 compression eyepiece holder, terestrial prism, solar shields, etc. Wonderful vintage scope now fitted for 1.25 eyepieces, it was like looking through a brand new 80mm scope. This is my first post on this forum and what a great topic to get my feet wet with. Thanks guys. I have the exact same scope and mount, or so it would appear, but cannot tell for sure due to lack of a clear focuser label shot. Dude! O. C. Astronomical telescope 60mm x 910mm,no Trademark. sharp views but i did not like low contrast. my 4" f/13 carton lens kicks, even mounted in a pvc drainpipe with no baffle's.
