For some unknown reason, I decided to visit stellarium.org today. I found that they have posted a new version for downloading.
I haven't checked to see what changes they've made, but I'll be installing it tonight.

thanks for posting. I love this program, they also announced 0.10.0, I can't wait!
Here is the info on the site for .1:
"The Stellarium team is proud to announce the release of version 0.9.1. This is primarily a bug fix and stabilization release. Apart from bug fixes, users can expect to see improved start-up times and a new sky culture (Tupi-Guarani) as well as some progress with translations and overall stability."

I also think that this version includes a telescope control function-- (might be an add-on in their Wiki?)

In the meanwhile, you might want to try www.bytearts.com for a Stellarium telescope control add on. I tried to use it during a star party with the latest Stellarium 0.9.1, but no luck. I couldnt update the Stellarium config file using the GUI of SteallariumScope. Maybe you'll have better luck.

0.9.1 also has the ability to flip the image horizontally and verically alowing you to match the view in the eyepiece which is very cool

There are hidden flip buttons in 0.9.0 also. The instructions for turning them on are in the pdf file

Hi,
I contacted the developer regarding Stellarium Scope's not working nicely with Stellarium, its 'daddy'. He is going to look at it...seems to be a problem with the way Vista changes things around.

There is hope...
I have Stellarium Scope/Stellarium 0.9.1 installed on my Visa laptop and it work just fine.
that is a very slick "plug-in"
Also they have a Stellarium 0.10.0 development for D/L

I just downloaded and installed it in XP on my new machine. The stupid thing never even created an icon on the desktop! Oh, the *install* icon is there (and you can install it as many times as you wish), but to get it to run, as with the older versions, you have to jump through hoops. Even on my new machine with a new graphics board and operating system, it still has the same old rapid "jerk jerk jerk" time animation unless you keep moving the mouse around (which smooths things out). It even locks up when doing a few things (did it to me when trying to get a location set on the map, good thing Task Manager is still available to kill the program). It has the same old clunky interface for things like changing your location (you have to get into a *file* to do this for the default if it isn't one of the "pre-selected" ones). Clearly, the program still needs work. It's shareware and a little eye candy, but I'm afraid it is still not ready for prime time. Clear skies to you.

My version runs very smoothly, no hiccups or jerkieness and I'm not sure why yours would do that. My laptop is nothing special so I don't think it's that.
Like you I downloaded the latest version and it installed easily.

The problem occurs mainly at 3x time acceleration (look for what appears to be a slight "vibration" of moving things as the mouse cursor vanishes when left alone for a bit). It is quite subtle with fast systems, but with my old computer, it really was "chug, chug, chug," when the mouse was not moved around, and it was a little annoying, although as I said, if you moved the mouse just a little from time to time, the "chugging" instantly vanished. It may have something to do with the graphics board (both my old and new machines use NVIDIA boards) or the mouse driver or some such variation, but it should have been fixed by now. Clear skies to you.
