I saw this posted on the Obsessionusers Yahoo Group and everyone needs to read this. There is a sign-on letter requesting action from the EPA to do something about LP. See this article, EPA Letter .
Sponsored by Representatives John Culberson (R-TX07), Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ08), and Steve Israel (D-NY02), the briefing provided a platform to inform the U.S. government that light pollution should be considered at the federal level. Bipartisan Congressional staff, members of the Green the Capitol program, and DC representatives of astronomical and conservation groups heard evidence on light pollution and the dire consequences of the degradation of the night skies.
Following an informative session including a number of easily implemented solutions, a sign-on letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was distributed. The letter called on the EPA to define light pollution and incorporate research and public outreach into their agenda. The sign-on letter to EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson is the first step toward the recognition of light pollution as a widespread and environmentally sensitive issue.
Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to sign the letter to the EPA. If your Representative's staff is unfamiliar with the sign-on letter, they may contact Brittany Hooten in Congressman Culberson's office at 202-225-2571, Wyatt King in Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' office at 202-225-2542, or Swati Bindra in Congressman Steve Israel's office at 202-225-3335.

I contacted my rep. on Thursday about the letter and urged him to sign it. I wish I would have kept the reply, but It upset me so much I hit delete. Not one word in the reply had any thing to do with light pollution, it talked about all of the other kinds of environment issues except what I asked about. The main thing I got out of the reply was "no money for environment issues" Jerry
