I use a 12v Black & Decker jump start battery from Walmart. I tried it with AA's and it was pretty weak sounding as compared to the gel cell. I think it should work fine with your regulated power supply. Just make sure the polarity is correct for the scope when using an external source.

Thanks Randy, will make sure the polarity is correct...luckly the you can switch the polarity on this power supply. btw.....how does it compare to you c6r on DSO's? Rahul K
I never actually used the refractor much on DSO's, except for the brighter ones. It does not have go-to, and for me that takes the fun out of finding harder targets...but the C6R probably does win out slightly in this area. I'd have to compare them side by side on the same night to say by how much. FOV is a factor as well as aperture.

Nice shot of Jupiter. Polar aligning your etx will improve tracking for say dso's with a dsi or other ccd. But I found planetary web cam imaging works fine in alt az with my etx 90.
