      #2461134 - 06/15/08 06:55 AM

Those of you who have not already seen this... please go and see hires magnificient Lunar mosaic by Yuri Goryachko, Mikhail Abgarian and Konstantin Morozov (Minsk, Belarus).

Please click for the link to the original size pic! On the forum is only a 15 per cent downsized version...

The mosaic is made of daytime shots of the Moon! The quality is something I have never seen before! See for yourself...

Be well!

Thanks for the link. There are too many forums on this site to find images such as these. (we need a *SIGH* Graemlin).

The image is incredible. I've often thought of doing a mosiac like that at different phases of the moon, but didn't think you could get those kind of results in the day.

Because it's captured during the day does that mean that the terminator would be located at a position that isn't normally viewed during the night? Or is there enough variation in the cycle that over the course of a year one could see all positions of the terminator?

Thanks again, quite fantastic.

There should be enough variation over time to see the terminator at any given position at night.

It occurs to me though that daytime viewing may give an advantage in viewing east/west libration zones because of the rotation of the earth placing the viewer in a more favourable position relative to the target limb. For example, when viewing the western libration zone on a last quarter Moon the rotation of the Earth puts the observer in a better position to see more of that limb at noon than at dawn.

Hi all,
... another Lunar mindblower by Yuri's team - an incredible 12 pic mosaic with amazing resolution (... I'm running out of words to describe the pic...)

Please, go and see yourself, folks! - Just remember to open the 2.5 mb pic from the link to see the spectacle!

Be well all!
