And more, a century after "the sky slammed shut" as one witness said. This article has links to a few others:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7470283.stm

The BBC site notes the butterfly pattern of flattened trees seen in 1938 aerial photos, without associating that feature with a shallow impact trajectory.

I read through most of the different links and all of the first link listed.

I feel this maybe a mystery that will remain unsolved for a while to come.
It was a front page article on Yahoo's Home Page Today.

So there still appears to be a lot of interest in the event.
Even those who arent inclined to take interest in meteorites and observing seem to stop and read an article about an event like Tunguska.
