I will post some pics this evening - rushing off to work now. Some close ups will make everything clear.
And I will get a contact number for the machine shop I used. They are somewhere around Peterborough - so not the other side of the country!

I am visiting my parents this weekend. I will get the number of the machine shop then.
Here is a view of the top plate from below. The hole in the center is that which the bolt goes through into the EQ6 Pro. The ring of holes are threaded and allen bolts screw into these to hold the head of the mount down.

Spent the weekend building the roof. Decided on a simple ridge design:

Hi...I'm 5 miles from London Heathrow on the London side...like the look of your work.
Do leave enough space below to bait for rodents (mice and rats) as they love spaces like that under the observatory...they WILL visit (I am a pest controler and see rodent problems under sheds all the time in London)
good luck!

Not long indeed. The only big job remaining is laying the oak flooring that I had left over from my house renovation.
I will probably put carpet on top of that - it won't be long before I drop an eye-piece.
After that there will be numerous small jobs, but I can start using the observatory at the same time as finishing the odd jobs off.
The advice about rodents is well taken. In the spring I got a few house mice indoors and it took me weeks to trap and poison them. I was not to bothered but my wife went ballistic when ever she saw one running around the bedroom.
I definitly don't want any more around the place.

Bravo on the build ProfMMC! Just in time to get things tidy for the darker nights to follow. Can't wait to see what you do with the DSI now that you have an OBS. Regards,

I have some updates to report - but been a bit too busy to post. It is remarkable how many other jobs my wife finds me to do around the house .... Hopefully I can do an update at the weekend.
But I am really close now to first light.
You mention the DSI I. Even better I have a DSI II pro and colour wheel under wraps that I picked up a couple of months ago when a 10% off offer was on the DSI II.
