Orange website misery!
      #2497154 - 07/03/08 10:11 AM

From my understanding, Orange have just announced that they are shutting down their FTP websites from 28th July. That includes all the relevant wanadoo and freeserve websites. I looks as though you'll have to either rebuild your site using their rather limited web builder package or go elsewhere for your webhosting. Great!

Can anyone recommend a good free web hosting service with an FTP upload service?

That is always going to be a problem with free hosting.
You are at thier whim for what ever......
Pay hosting is VERY cheap these days and for $5.00 a month you can get a whole lot of web hosting

I use Freewebs who aren't bad, apart from a few minor quirks. I use their paid service because I hate lame ads but their free service is good, if a little limited. They provide browser uploading and templates. You can also use your own design, I think.

In the end I've plumbed for Awardspace.com. No adverts and good write ups. Only issue is the 500KB file size limit but I've got around this by posting my large files (the downloadable executables of the software my brother and I developed) on download.com

I've you can stomach paying a little then 1and1.co.uk have a stunning product for £1.99/month. Including full FTP, multiple domain hosting, web statistics, email accounts etc.....

Highly recommended.

My wife uses Lunarpages.com, which offers a very complete package at a pretty low cost. I don't know how it relates to some of the others. We've been using it for three years with no issues.

Well, ONE issue. I keep forgetting the password, and my wife wrote it down wrong!

In the uk I'd recommend www.1and1.co.uk.

If you want a recommendation for broadband it's www.bethere.co.uk I'm getting 20mbps down and 2mbps up and a fixed IP address and no download limits, you could run your own Apache web server on that.

Got fed up of waiting for Meade ETX-150 so put this together for £500/$1000
