M3 with Mallincam & SV102APO new
      #2496386 - 07/02/08 10:00 PM

I was playing with my setup this evening as the configuration is slated to change tomorrow when the FedEx truck arrives. In any case I captured the image below while the Mallincam was still connected to my Stellarvue 102APO. There was a .5x focal reducer attached to the Mallincam, (I didn't bother to focus). Sometimes I forget how easy the MC is for quick real-time images. It truly is point and shoot. No processing.

Setting:
Integration = off
cooling = off
sense = 128
Light Control = ELC @ full
WB = Manual
AGC = On @ full

Cool Marcus, I can't till my MCH comes so I can try in on my 102ED as well. I'm thinking that scope on my CG5-AGT and MCH will make a great out public star party/out reach combination

Nice job Marcus.

Whats the FR on your scope? (before FR)

BTW, nice touch on showing the settings for the camera.

My wife and I have been really pleased with the SV102ED with the MallinCAM HC so I am not surprised that you found it very nice. At about f/7, your views of the big southern placed nebula will be spectacular--taking in a very nice field if you are also using a focal reducer. Enjoy.

Nuther note: I rarely use a high AGC but I notice you are. You might try working up from about 1/3 AGC to 2/3 and see where you get the nice results without AGC being any higher than necessary. Not sure what MC you have, but definitely do NOT start with a high AGC on any extended settings until you know how the camera reacts.

Kerry - The scope has a 890mm FL @ F8.3 before any reducing. I put the reducer on because it allows me to get the full disk of the Moon or Sun in when I use the MC on that scope.

Roland - Thanks for the ACG setting advice. I'll have to play with all the settings anyway as the camera has been temporally moved to a 12" SCT (the 102mm has been removed from the setup and packed away).

My MC is an older model that has the 7 & 14 second integration switch. I never used the integration (or cooling) features because they weren't remote controllable. I did design a remote wireless switch that works with my current wireless setup but I never got around to building it. More than likely when I am done playing with it on the SCT, it will go back to its original home as it was actually purchased to be a E-finder and is normally attached to a SV 50mm finder.
