Given an angular size of only around 1.7 ar-seconds, this is just amazing

Looking at this, and an image on this forum of Mars at 4.76 arc-seconds, I really hope we can have some good efforts at Uranus as it nears opposition in September. It reaches 3.7 arc-seconds, so we should get a disk twice this size, and while Uranus' surface is pretty devoid of detail, I still think it may be possible to pick up "surface differentiation" of some kind!

Here is a much improved image, from a later run where I recorded about 3 minutes of nothing but red channel (about 7500 frames).

cheers, Bird

Both results are incredible Anthony!

You mention that this latest image is from a red light clip--- what filter was used for the original image?

John, the original is also through a red filter, but for a shorter time - 60 seconds for the original and about 200 seconds for the most recent version.

cheers, Bird

I wasn't actively imaging at the time this was posted, so I missed this thread. There was a show on TV tonight that talked about Uranus and Neptune along with their weather, clouds, storms etc. which got me to wondering if anyone has had any luck resolving any type of detail at all on them. I remember seeing one image of Uranus by an amateur that showed what I believed was legitimate detail and albedo, but I don't remember where I saw it and couldn't find it on here. But searching for it led me to this thread, and I'm glad it did. Some truly amazing work on Anthony's part here. Quite an achievement!
