Here is my local dark site on Figueroa Mt in the Los Padres National Forest. It's a bit north of Los Olivos and we do get some light from the communities to the south, but overall it's pretty nice. For me, it's an hour drive.

And here is one of the better nights. The skyglow to the southeast is evident but overall, I'll take it!

30 min exposure at f2.8, 28mm lens, 35mm ISO 800 film.

This is the new location I found a 45km drive from my yard. The SQM reading I got there was 21.89.
http://rascvic.zenfolio.com/p609299741/
I can't get anyone from my club to come out.

The most of rest of the time I observe from my backyard (the background in my avitar) SQM readings average 21.14 -
21.3

My other most often used site is the observatory at Pearson College (an international highschool) only a 5 minute drive from my home. This is where the 25" on the eq lives. Here is an aireal shot with the dome pointed out.

You guys with the wide open expanses and dark skies make me sick.

Here's my "dark sky site". See the little cross hair in the middle? That's our club observatory near the Dayton-Cincinnati light belt. Columbus, Ohio is the big white spot to the right of the cross-hairs.

Here's a link to a photo of the MVAS Observatory at John Bryan State Park. It's good to have a place to go to observe even if it's so close to so much light pollution.

So that's what Toronto looks like eh?

Maybe we should start a new thread with who has the prettiest (I mean ugliest) LP map. Gotta love (or hate) them colors.

Geoff, we're still waiting for a photo from you that has even a hint of blue sky.

I know they call Ireland the Emerald Isle because it's so green due to all the rainfall but the sun does shine once in a while..... RIGHT?!!!

*Looks up at what is left of the "night sky" - a sickly, orange-grey glow above - from his balcony apartment. Realizes that he'd have to drive hundreds+ miles to escape the glow...*

*Looks at pretty pictures on this thread.*

*Goes into a corner and cries a bit.*

*sigh*
