I have 2 Rigel Quick finders. One is brand new and the other one, just purchased use is somewhat older. Both work fine but the older one has a different looking illuminated circle pattern. Not knowing the background of the Rigel Quick Finders Im of the opinion they must have changed the double circular illuminated pattern somewhere along the way? My new Rigel has a 1/2 degree and 2 degree "Solid" Red Circles, the older Rigel has a different looking pattern. It looks like 2 circles that are made up of dots and its also has something that looks like cross hairs. Were the early Rigels like this?
Can anyone shed some info on this issue?

That's odd! My two--and, IIRC, the ones I had several years ago-- have two solid circles-- 1/2 degree and 2 degrees!
What does Google tell us? Or the Rigel web site?

The one with the dashed circle was likely an earlier model. The oldest models had gray homemade bodies with rounded edges rather than the current black with more square profile. Mag One Portaballs even had ones that had only a cross with no circles.

Found out more about this.
Rigel Systems, the maker of the QuikFinder, made theirs with FULL circles but WITHOUT cross hairs. They also made them with DASHED circles with cross hairs for another company (whose actual name was Crazy Ed Optical, a well regarded supplier for astronomy accessories). (Ed was a wonderful participant in astronomy newsgroups.) Finally, they provided unfinished QuikFinders to Mag 1 who completed them with cross hair reticles.
So, that's the background on why there are 3 different versions of QF's floating around.
The current ones are all full circles--see RS's home page. http://members.cox.net/rigelsys/quikfinder.html

Well, I sent my Rigel Quick Finder to Rigel to have it updated to the current 2-circle version. Ill probably get it back next week sometime. Leon provides great service at Rigel Systems! I highly recommend them!
