I realize that this is a refractor forum, however if I had to settle on only one scope for the rest of my life, it would be one of the smaller SCT scopes. Maybe not the best of each world, but the best compromise of both worlds. Not too heavy, can do just about anything, available with go-to mount as a neat small package, easy to transport, and set up, and has more usaable attributes in one package than either refractor, or reflector. Sure there are advantages to either a refractor, or reflector, but as a "one only" scope I thing the SCT is hard to beat.

I think a portable 5-inch APO may suit my taste better were I given only one chance to choose only one scope:)
