What do you guys think?
      #2512920 - 07/11/08 01:40 PM

What do you guys think about having a sticky thread or forum page about trouble shooting for the various models of Meade scopes? People would post their particular problem they encountered with details of the fault/problem and then after resolution they would write up a detailed post on the problem found and the fix. Examples would be Jerry and his collimation issues on both sides of focus. This would give all of us a central place to look for common problems and their fixes. This would make things easier than having to search through endless threads to find a morsel of info.

Mods?....Peeps?..........

I think it would be a good idea as long as the Problem and Solution were combined into one post with the "Title" of the post changed for each post stating the problem. IE "collimation" or "Mirror backlash" ect.

There is not much likelihood of there being the creation of a new forum just for Meade trouble shooting. We have two Meade forums, and that is what they are there for already. We do have a sticky thread here already for fine tuning the RCX/LX400 line, and members are already encouraged to search Cloudy Nights for existing information. My feeling is that when people have an immediate problem, the first thing they do is to start a new thread anyway and do not look at the sticky threads on top.

Nobody ever uses the search feeature either since a few questions or issues were just discussed but they're on page 4 now. that cycle repeats itself every few weeks too.

CN needs a "search all forums" feature, often I know who made a post long ago that I am looking for but they are active in a few places so I don't know where to look.

Hey, now that is cool. Now I just have to remember to save that when I get home .

I have used a lot of forums and by far cloudynights was the most difficult for me, to get the actual info I was looking for. without all the extra " stuff"

that google jobbie seems to work easier for me .

I would go ahead and make the the thread ..once we get it organized into something useful then it can be a sticky.
