Any observing plans this weekend? Looks like it might be nice Saturday (8/2) night.

Hi Russell, We're hoping to have sky this weekend. If only I can keep Scott awake past 11 p.m.
It's been too long since I've had my Dob, Stella, out. I really want to. Right now, the clouds are overhead and it appears that we just might get those thunderstorms tonight.

Don't feel bad Di, after a few clear nights the monsoons have returned to the desert southwest. Sounds to me like a good weekend for hiking in the cooler parts of Arizona!

We were out in Overgaard a month or so ago. About 6500ft. It was only about 85 while Phoenix was about 100+. Nice area!

Just drove to a motel in Mentor, near my mother-in-law's house in Willowick. Whirlwind three day trip to fix computers and go to the beach in Fairport Harbor today, and attend my wife's family picnic on Saturday. Oh, both sons and daughters-in-law, and all 9 grandkids, came in from Phoenix and Colorado as well. Fun day today. Fly out tomorrow night. Susan will stay another week and a half to help her mother out.
Anyway, quite a lightening show right now at 11 PM over The Lake. Might have nasties headed your way.

Wow Jim, you're so, so close to us! It'd be nice if you could have an extra day to meet up for lunch or dinner.
But I'm glad you and your family all arrived safely and hope your trip home is safe too.
It does look like the storm is heading our way. Oh well, we could use some rain. It's been pretty dry and humid lately.

I had to be at work on Thursday morning, and Sunday afternoon I need to put a briefing together at work for a government customer on Monday. Meant arriving at Hopkins near midnight Thursday, whirlwind of fun things with our band of 15 (like herding cats!) today, and tomorrow will start at 8 AM and will run on and on until well after dark. Then a 7AM takeoff Sunday.
I was Walter Mitty-ing (so, how many folks recognize THAT reference?) being able to do a drive-by wave, but my time is spoken for. Haven't seen one of the sets of grandkids for two years, so it's been a good thing; all 9 are so well behaved it's scary.
Continuous thunder, lightning, and rain for the last 30 minutes. You might get some of this stuff. Keep dry, and no RV parking on the grass.

So glad you got to see all of the grandkids! That's wonderful.
I understand about the tight schedule. How about we wave to each other now. Look southwest and wave! Ready "Walter"?
