I just purchased "Barska Binocular Tripod Adapter" for my Olympus 10x50.
Last night, I attached it on Orion's "Large Tritech Tripod," but it was really shaky and unstable.
Both of tripod and adapter have rough rubber surfaces.
Is this normal or is the item defective?
The adapter only costed 8.99 + shipping in Opticsplanet.
Thanks.

More than likely you have purchased a plastic tripod adapter and therein lies the problem. You need a solid metal tripod adapter to overcome the shakes and instability.
This one is "the best" out of four that I own:

You should return the other for a full refund.

I mean the base does not quite fit on the tripod, and that causes the vibration.
Is it still because of a plastic?
If so, I wasted some money.
Anyway, does that adpater have two holes? One is for a screw and another is for a pin.
Barska have only one hole for the screw; it easily spins even though I completely tightened it.

Kim, is there something preventing the L bracket from completely tightening down onto the head? It just sounds to me like you're not mating the two surfaces tightly enough.
The 1/4"-20 screw must be run as far as it can go into the L bracket and then the jam nut around it must be tightened to finish the job.
Just wondering,
Rich V

It goes deeper.
Something was stuck when I just tried.
It fits now
I should test if it's going to be still shaky
Thank you for the help.

Hope the bracket is stiff enough.

Sorry, one more weird question.
Assume that your binoculars are connected to an adapter.
Does the connection loosen when you spin your binoculars little bit to the clockwise and then to the counterclockwise? (Repeat the same step)

Yes, it can. It depends on the design of the adapter. Some adapters use washers w/rubber to prevent twisting the binocular. Others are designed to spin without becoming loose.
A tip: don't expect perfection for $9. ;^)

I did't like the rubber washer, so I made my self a cork washer and it solves my problem with "tilting bin's"

I guess it is the common problem for most tripod adapters..
I also going to try a cork. Thanks for the info, Martin.
