I just printed out the registration form. I am so psyched. Darkest skies I have ever personally seen ( outside of the Austrian Alps back in 1990 ) I am really looking forward to getting my dob out under those skies.

It is at Cherry Springs State Park about 2 hours NW of Williamsport PA. It has the darkest skies that I have ever experienced in the Northeast. I'm going to attend this years BFSP.

I just received my confirmation for BFSP. Besides bringing cookies to pass around, I should also bring a flag to plant on the surface after my 640 mile journey.
See you there.......

No confirmation for me yet, although my bank statement tells me my check was deposited and it cleared yesterday. All of my traveling friends received confirmation yesterday...maybe I'll get mine today.
For someone who contends daily (nightly) with the severe light pollution living next to NYC, the dark skies in Potter County are VERY dark! If we get one good night out of the whole weekend, it will be worth the trip.

>>I'm not a camper, so I was wondering if anyone had any good experiences with and could suggest some lodging alternatives.<<
Frosty Hollow B&B is my favorite and is only 8 miles from the park.
>>Also I understand that there are no refunds in the case of bad weather/conditions so what happens with respect to activities under such circumstances?<<
The talks go on, the vendors are open, but the best part is all the yacking with other amateurs from all over that goes on rain or starshine.
>>And lastly (for now)what does one do during daylight hours and is there anything to occupy non astronomy oriented family members? <<
Grand Canyon of PA is about an hour away. Check out the PA. Lumber Museum up on Rt. 6. Make sure you see the Austin Dam Disaster site ... those would be my top three suggestions.
