Picked up both expansion cards and the speaker last week, my 1st impressions:
Speaker (paid US$30+tax) + compact size, lightweight + hangs around the neck nicely with included neck strap + extended resonant chamber works, there's an improvement to the 'depth' of the voice (less tin-can-voice like) + Li-Ion battery and USB charging + also works great with USB-stick type MP3 players, etc.
- USB port to charge battery is not standard Mini USB port, but a smaller variant. Another non-standard cable to not loose - included lanyard almost impossible to attach to loop - will activate mag. icon on the SS if it's too close ~6" - the included audio extension cable should have had a right-angle plug to the SS unit
Overall it's a nice little unit that makes the audio portion of the SS much easier to use compared to the earpiece and its tangling wires (imo). Keeper for me.
fwiw - it looks like you can get the *EXACT* same speaker for 1/3 the cost (shipping included!) from dealextreme - look up SKU 646. I'll be ordering one soon and will update a comparative impression when I get it.

I'm waiting on a couple of other stuff to get in stock at DX before I process my order, will update as soon as I get a hold of it (with pics!)
At any rate, I've found the SS's been fantastic in both extremes; either bright suburban skies (too little input) or dark skies (too much input) to help be get reacquainted with the night skies again.

I ordered one in the meantime - not exactly a terrible risk given the price. I'll let you know how it works, should arrive any day now.

I received my DealExtreme speaker yesterday. It's easy to use and very compact. The only issue that I have noticed so far is that the relatively short jack length interferes with the rubber "hinge" for the USB port cap. I think that I will need to extend the jack a tad bit as the speaker wants to pop out of the jack port. Other than this it works great.
As far as I can tell this is the same speaker as the Celestron speaker.

Nolan, thanks for the update (um, as for my order I got side-tracked with deal-extreme for now as I just got another 'accessory' for my SS - a 6 SE )
fwiw the Celestron unit comes with a piece of audio extension cable, so you hang the speaker around your neck and wired to the SS. Same issue with the USB port cap if I were to try and plug the speaker directly into the SS port.
Does the LED still have a confusing GREEN when on and RED when done charging?
