LX200 Cloudy weight problem new
      #2515313 - 07/12/08 06:13 PM

Is it just me or does your LX200 also seem to weight a lot more after you carry in after cloudy night when you have seen almost nothing, when it was almost clear when you carried it out earlier & the weather forecast was clear.

Tonight was the first time in nearly a month i have had it out due to bad weather & light nights.

I still did a auto align even thought it was cloudy then i started tonight's tour just to make me feel like i am getting my moneys worth.
I went through a the first few & when it got to vega the clouds cleared a bit & there it was in the finder, i centered it in the eyepiece & then it was gone in the clouds.

It seems so much heavier even on a cloudy warm summers evening than it does on a clear freezing night when you have been out for hours.

Come on winter.

I roll my 12" out routinely and autoalign even when its cloudy... just to make myself feel better.

Scopebuggy is my friend... roll her into the driveway, out away from the street light and let her rip. Usually draws attention from the neighbors as well. At first they thought it was amateur patriot missle time... little did they know.

Mine was mistaken for a television camera...other times it has been mistaken as a missile launcher, too.

Come to think of it, it can be modified.....

When I added the dew shield, no one could see the glass... they thought I was lying!

I do not really understand the problem here. Seems to be a pure psychological thing. When driving to italy for holiday, it seems to be a short road, riding back it seem endless.

I was all set to give you the Google Maps solution, but it appears to have been broken. It used to say:
"Swim across the Atlantic Ocean 3,462 mi 29 days 0 hours"
