I found a treasure!
      #2518243 - 07/14/08 12:53 PM

Well, this may be old hat to the experienced, but I just stumbled on the Simbad database. I feel like I wandered into Aladdin's treasure cave. If you are not familiar with this archive, you just have to check it out. It has an astonishing amount of information, plus plots, of any deepsky object that's ever been seen. Cross references to other names for an object (very useful!), tons of detail (proper motion, type, spectra), lists of other objects within a specified distance. You can plot the object and surrounding sky, link to other databases on the same object, do complex queries. It's just an amazing resource!

Thanks for the heads up, diggy. I've added Simbad to my list.
