I picked up my new Nikon Action EX 10x50 today, and I'm really liking the views. Much sharper, better light throughput, and flatter FOV than the Nikon Action 10x50 I have. But...
The hard rubber eyecups are killing me . I like the twist-up concept, but they are just flat uncomfortable.
Are there any soft, preferrably winged cups that I could replace the stock ones with, or maybe slip over them? The outside diameter of the factory cups is right at 1-11/16".
I don't know how easily the rubber will come off of the mechanical twist up part, and didn't want to push the issue when I felt some resistance.

Hi, I think the better thing to serarch is some plastic tubing used for chemical purposes, to search is in a chemical supplies store; there are available various materials of many thikness, also very soft but chemically inert. You can choose the one you prefer to put it over your eyecups with a little effort. You vould need some abrasive and a glass surface to make them evenly ground, and something like a cork to hold it when working. It would be difficult to paint it black, though. Just my two cents, cheers.

Thanks.... how do I get the factory rubber off of the twist up eyecups? It seems to be glued on, or formed around some type of central mechanicals.

Hi, my suggestion was to put the new (chemical tubing etc ...) over the existing ones. Not to take the existing ones away, cheers.

There are a number of winged guards for eyepieces that would most likely fit right over the existing. generally about $3.95 each. Follow the links.

Having a hard time finding anything that will fit over the stock ones... Everything I've found only goes up to about 1-3/8", maybe 1-1/2".
