Off line for a while...
      #2520127 - 07/15/08 10:53 AM

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be my last day with all my stuff here. The packers will arrive to crate up my house-hold effects and my computer. Some stuff will be shipped as unaccompanied airline baggage and will arrive in DC in about a week. The rest will be be crated up and shipped off to Belgium for storage until I get my new assignment.

I got the cats all ready to go, and they will fly as cargo on my flight to the USA. The flights are long, going from South Africa to Amsterdam and then on to Washington. The shorter direct flight was all booked up. It will cost $1200 to ship the two cats. Then after a few months I'll be off again on a new assignment overseas. Not sure where - that's the fun part! Once I get my list to choose from I'll post it here.

So, I will be away (on and off) until I get settled in Washington. They are putting me up in a nice corporate apartment so I'll be quite comfortable and will have internet access. Woo-Hoo - high speed internet again! While there I'll be shopping a bit and then I will have a larger shipment from Washington to my next post. I have to this chance to pick up a new stereo and finally get a flat-screen TV. I may wait until I see where I'm going first - and check what is available there before I buy in the USA. I'll need a dual voltage stereo/TV system either way - and a new Apple Macbook Pro! And my #1 priority is to get a new scope!

New toys!

Pete

I've had a nasty time getting back to the USA. First the air conditioning died so my flight was delayed 24 hours, and now I am in Amsterdam and bad weather delayed me another 4! ARGHGH.

Hope you aren't delayed further due to storms in the Washington DC region. Good luck with a new scope indeed!!
