I just to possession of my second Q...a beautiful '64 Standard. A Powerguide controller (standalone wooden box unit) was a part of the deal. It is in wonderful condition...the wooden box is mint. As it was not of the same vintage as the '64 Q, I am considering selling it but have no idea of it's value. Does anyone in this group know a fair asking price. My assumption is that these things are quite rare in this condition.

As far as I can tell there have been about 10 Powerguide units that have come up for sale in the past 3 or 4 years on astromart or ebay. The prices they sold for have ranged from about $ 225 to a high of $ 355. There have been others offered but they either came as part of a Questar 3.5 package or came with a Star Guide or other accessory. There is an article about Powerguides on the company 7 web site. The powerguide was preceded by the Varitrac(?) units and later by the 2 versions of the Powerguide built into the base of the Questar forks. There have been at least 4 versions of what I think you have. The most commonly seen variety have what looks like a formica exterior and has a handle on top and a latch on the front to close the unit. I currently have 2 of these units, each slightly different from the other.
As for a fair price it depends if you are the seller or buyer.

I think Ralph is right on target (as usual). I recently sold one for $275, and Ralph was ready to take it if the other guy fell through.

That's why I came here first
Thanks to both Ralph and Ron. My unit's control board has a button array layout that is an exact mirror opposite of your unit, Ron. Same array, just flipped...obviously one of the different versions. Thanks again for the info. BTW, the '64 Standard that accompanied it is spectacular...full of the Questar mystique!! I may have to let the recently purchased '07 go, but until such time, it's like having twins!
