Hi all
Here's the first processed image from a session last night in variable seeing, but with a couple of very steady moments. This image is from one of those good moments. I'm not sure the rest will be as good, but at least I got one. Unfortunately the GRS has already finished transiting a few hours before (always the way).
The seeing started deteriorating at around 12:15am local time when the temperature dropped 2deg in 10 minutes. I could've turned my active cooling back on, but Jupiter would've gone behind a tree in 30 minutes anyway so I called it a night.
12" newt on EQ6, DMK21AU04 + 5x powermate.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Mike:
That is definitely one of the most interesting Jupiter composites that you have posted this year. The Festoons along the SEB's northern border are spectacular, have you noticed the incredible wave pattern that these Rifts are producing in the EZ? Also, note the 'Blue Oval' located within the NTrZ, I don't ever recall seeing that before, could it be a new discovery? Like I said before, this is a very interesting shot, congratulations! Cheers, Dan

Mike! Why you have chosen USB, instead of FIREWIRE?

Thanks guys for your feedback. Much appreciated. It sure was nice to be out amongst it again.
Nik59, I used to have the DMK firewire, but I sold it and bought the DMK USB because it was much more convenient for me. The firewire required a PCMCIA firewire card + external powered hub, because my laptop didn't have a firewire port. The USB draws power from the USB port itself, so no other power is required, no other cables. Just much easier.
Plus, I had the older DMK firewire which was only 30fps, while the newer USB DMK can do 60fps. It's also much more stable (for me).

Even South Florida Amateurs like my wife and I are jealous of your location! The best we are getting this year is 42 degrees. The photo I took of Jupiter on July 21st shown below is not far from the view you photographed 5 days earlier. Taken from Miami, FL with a CGE 1100, 2.5X Powermate, Astronomik RGB filters and a DMK21AF04 using Astro IIDC. The best 200 out of 900 frames were used for each filter. The RGB images were taken at 2:48 UT on July 21, 2008. CM I 42 deg, CM II 355 deg, and CM III 299 deg. Altitude 36 degrees on a calm, clear night with good seeing and no dew problems. We are lucky to get 2 nights like this per summer month in South Florida.

Spectacular Image,Mike. The clarity of Jupiter in this image is as close to perfect as I have seen. Tremendous amount of detail and contrast.Mike your talents in capturing these Images is amazing to say the least.
And dont feel bad Bleser, the image you have captured is exceptional in its own right.I would be estatic to have captured an image as detailed and sharp as yours.
I would like to say Thank You To Both You Mike, and The Blesers as well. Its a treet to get 2 images in 1 thread.
