Well, second light tonight with the DBK. Captured over 8 gig of data. A few things I noticed tonight. The fix to stabilize the firewire and port plug worked like a charm, no issues at all with "device lost". I tried out the codec Y800 mode on the moon (first time I've ever shot the moon before believe it or not). My laptop recognized the captured avi file, but once I transferred it to my desktop, running XP, it can't seem to run the avi due to being Y800. I can always process them on my laptop if need be till I figure it out. I'm going to play around with it some after I see kind of results I got with Jupiter. I did several sequences at 15fps and 30fps with Jupiter in UYVY, hence the huge files, one over 2.5 gig. I'll have to process the sequences to be sure, but it appears to me that seeing can be better than it appears on the screen during capture with the DBK. Single frames appear a bit noisy compared to my Toucam frames in the same seeing, but the end results are much better regardless of how noisy the single frames seem to be. I'll know in a few hours when I'm done with a couple of sequences. This might of been discussed by others, but the only way I can capture at 60fps is in Y800 mode. It will only go up to 30fps in BY8, UYVY, RGB etc.

Do yourself a favour and buy the thin firewire cables, don't use the heavy-duty cable that comes with the camera.
The thin cables are very flexible and don't get affected by cold.

Another note to add is that K3ccd seems to easliy handle 3 gigs or 6000 frames. It won't show you are working with 6000 frames until it comes time to select your percentage to stack. Even though it opens the avi by reading it at around 1700 frames, it is actually picking up all 6000

Hi Jim, yes, I'm still using the early free version of K3ccd to do the aligning, sorting and stacking to get FIT files. Even though I've been working with 1.5 - 3.5 gig files since starting with the DBK I can still have an avi processed in less than 10 minutes. I don't even want to think how long it would take Registax.

Works for the Sun...that's my bag with it (all being well)

I have notebook “ SAMSUNG X-20 » .Notebook have 6 pin input FIREWIRE.Camera DMK 21AF04 demands the unique cable of 6-6 pins for connection with notebook, without an additional power unit demands. Notebook requires an electric feed(meal) from a network.
