I'm pleased to announce Film Astrophotography's Finalist - Nightfly:



Western portion of Sagittarius and southern Ophiuchus. Details as follows:

May 3, 2008 2:30-3:10 A.M. EDT
Pentax 67 with 165mm @ f/4
40 minute exposure on E200 Pushed +2 stops
Scanned on an Epson 4490 flatbed scanner and processed with Adobe Photoshop and PixInsight LE.

Thank you all for the kind words. I was pleased with this image as well. A film astrophotographers best friend is dark skies. The transparency was particularly good the morning of this shot. Everything worked.

Currious, when was the last time a film forum member won the T-shirt?

Enough with the excuses. I'm not buying it. Has a film image ever won? If there is an image that has a shot at it, this is it.

No T-shirt this time. I feel pretty good about third place. There is an aweful lot of talent out there to compete with. It's all fun! I'd like to see more photos posted by others. Get out there and shoot!

Hey, you certainly had nothing at all to be ashamed of with your image - first class piece of work.

To answer the question I don't think that Film has win the T-Shirt yet but there have been plenty of times when I thought you could have. It'll happen, I'm certain of it.
