I recently acquired some old 7x50 Fuji Meibos.
Having had normal bushnells, skymasters, etc. before, this is a bit different. Quite sharp. Just had them outside looking through the holes in our current cloudcover.
For their age they seem to be in great shape. A couple specks on the inside of the objectives is all I can find so far. The coatings look good. Aligned well.
I was wondering - does anyone have any idea how old they might be? They are center focus, marked Meibo in cursive, 7deg10" FOV. Featherweight. "No. 557266", "FPO", "coated optics". Are not the rubber-clad variety.
Opinions?

Are those central focus? You may be aware that Bushnell made his early reputation selling the Fuji Photo Optical products with the volcano logo. The internal prism mountings and the overall mechanical fits are in most cases superior to current offerings from the Saitama area and its subcontractors in Japan and China.
I bought a bunch of the non-rubber covered FujiMeibo 7 x 50 MT in Yokohama in 1975. I wish that I had kept at least one.

Was wondering if my Meibos might be of the same vintage? Here's a link to another post I started: My thoughts on 2 elderly binos & Q about their age
Mine has the FPO/volcano logo on the right hand side and Meibo on the left.

Hi Gordon
I know these Meibo's were available at those time in central focus and IF models - do you know if all of them carry the same optical elements?
regards Pedro
