MaxMount Field Upgrades new
      #2533598 - 07/22/08 07:18 AM

Received a cell phone call from "Vincent" at Meade last evening. The field installations of new boards and firmware have been pushed back until mid September. Meanwhile, the saddle board containing the MaxMount's USB hub and focuser controller are apparently finalized while work on the R/A and DEC upgrades are still in progress.

Hi Ken,

Sounds like R&D on the high end Meade's is still continuing - good news.

Duncan,
Yes, it does seem so, but "Vincent" was only a messenger who had very limited information. P'raps the two Jasons with MaxMounts can chime in here??

Is your mount still functional, Kenny?

Yeah, Lleege, it functions okay as long as I use a 12 V. linear power supply. (Astron SL-11A) Every once in a while it will go haywire on a go to and there is an occasional problem when trying to sync either the Sky or SP Pro 5 with the hand controller still plugged in. Guiding with The Sky active can cause problems but those of us who use The Sky with MaxMounts have worked around it by simply disconnecting The Sky while guiding. I have no focusing issues, although I use a large OPTEC TCF for Maxim DSLR, Focus Max and One Touch for Mallincam Video Capture because focusing can be more easily automated or controlled remotely. I have used the ASCOM (earlier version) RCX driver with Focus Max, but I had problems with the latest driver that have not yet been worked out. Hence the OPTEC.
