Demelza,

That's a very nice sketch of the Zig-Zag, or as you also noted, "STAR 7." For those who aren't familiar, that "STAR" designation stands for Small Telescope Asterism Roster from my book The Deep Sky: An Introduction. In the book, I included some 29 asterisms that I and many other amateurs found over time. STAR 7 is actually a carryover from my book Touring the Universe through Binoculars. In there, I described it as "composed of 17 magnitude 7 to 9 stars winding across a little over 1.5 degrees of sky. Look for this group about 6 degrees directly south of Gamma Herculis." The exact coordinates are RA 16h 18.2m, Dec +13 00, just southwest of Omega Her.

Thanks, Demelza, for sharing a fun target to enjoy through binoculars and short-focus telescopes on warm summer nights.

Thank you, Phil!

Small asterisms are fun to observe. Zig Zag is easy to reconize and a fun object to sketch.
