28" Webster & 14" Celestron Live Tonight
      #2540632 - 07/25/08 01:10 PM

The Guys at AstroChannels where broadcasting Live Way before we started doing so, But I've not heard from them in some time.

Well I got an E-Mail from them today and they are going to try a broadcast Friday and Saturday night on SparkCast ... (Weather permitting).

They use a 28" Fast Webster and a 14" Celestron with a 3.3 reducer and a 6.3 reducer.

The Camera I believe is a MallinCam Color and they transmit from a dark site.

These are the guys that got me interested in the Mallincam...

Here's a link to there Very Nice Web site, It has all the Info and some nice samples of there early work:

Greg,

I was just going to post this event to the group, but you beat me to it.

Jason Davis of Bountiful, Utah owns both B&W and Color MallinCam HYPER PLUS cameras and started the satellite broadcasting of the video feed several years ago from the desert to the west of Salt Lke City. He then travelled to Death Valley and Tocopa Hot Springs and did broadcasts from there. He left his 14" CGE at Tocopa Hot Springs and the Chamber of Commerce is getting a camera to go with it so they can continue hosting local stargazes on a regular basis as the events hosted by Jason were a great tourist attraction.

I plan on joining the sesson tonight and hopefully will be able to assist Jason in looking for targets.

Thanks for the added info Jack,

It wasn't long after my Friend Ben and I saw what they were doing that we decided to go in partners on a MallinCam Color Hyper and all the equipment to go with it... Shortly after that you got a call from us....

I'm looking forward to the broadcast tonight, I'm going to set up my 12" and use the 9" speco from my light polluted back yard and hit the same objects they are broadcasting, But I won't broadcast unless they have problems... See you there...

Greg,

It is currently raining here in Louisiana and the forecast looks wet until October. See my CSC below. Thus I won't be broadcasting any time soon - unless it is reruns.

That's alright...October is when the transparency returns from its extended vacation. How's the wrist doing?

David,

The cyst is gone and now I have developed carpal tunnel. A cortisone shot is the first tretment. If that fails, after DSRSG I will have to go under the knife = AGAIN!

We'll be at it again tonight, Friday the 1st. Except for a few passing clouds, conditions should be excellent.
