This should be a "side purchase" beside the Canon IS 15x50 I am eying. So if the Stellarvue would equal the coveted Regals, which scored so well in EdZ review, I might take those... Any experience with the Stellarvues ?

Identical to the Oberwerk Sport RP line of roof prism binocs. I'm sure each size is slightly different, I've got the 12x50. Not bad, but not in the same league as the Regal LX.

I've got the Regal 8x42's and the Canon 10x42 IS. They both have almost the same true field of view. The Canon has a wider apparent field of view in the eyepieces, so the viewed image is larger. Both are very, very good. The 8x42's are much smaller and lighter and pack well. I took the 8x42's to Europe for the past 2 months on a work trip and got to use them at night in some dark skies.
I would highly recommend an 8x42 roof prism to go with your Canon's. They are half the size and you can take them with you on trips easily.

As a happy user of the Celestron Regal LX, I have a question that maybe Edz or some other knowledgeable CN contributor can answer for me regarding the coatings on these fine binoculars. I have never seen coatings this color on any other binocular; they appear dark brown and do not reflect but the most subtle amounts of light. I am not exaggerating when I say that when I look into the objective ends , I see nothing but a dark pool of dark brown ink. What are these coatings and why don't more binoculars have them if they are as good as they appear to me?
