Morning Break to Catch the Waning Moon new
      #2538593 - 07/24/08 01:10 PM Attachment (7 downloads)

One of the advantages of a day off or retirement is one can take an unscheduled break to take advantage of a sketch opportunity. Last night we had rain and wind. The front passed in the early morning so that we woke up to 60 degrees F, brisk wind, and crystal blue sky. With a long list of things to do, the 9:15 am view of the moon, waning and about orthogonal to the sun from my viewpoint, was beautiful. Upon sitting on a bench to enjoy it for a minute, I saw the place I wanted to sketch that would catch the overhanging maple, some summer blossoms, and the moon. It was a wonderful opportunity to give thanks to God's care -- providing the scene, the color, the makeup of objects, health enough to sketch, ....and the list could go on. Linda grabbed the shot of sketching spot and then joined me for most of the time. Roland

Roland,

Great daytime sketch of old Luna. I saw this view this morning about 9am local time but it was difficult to pick out the moon among the clouds. You look to be enjoying the morning as you sketch. Thanks for the nice post, Roland.

Frank

Roland,

A beautiful observation of the Moon floating in the daytime sky with earth forms (maple and summer blossoms) in the foreground. These are examples of God's work for all of us to see. Thank you for the observation.

Carlos

Roland

When I think I want to be too scientific perfect, I look to your allegorical and painterly sketching for inspiration! You always put me back on my proper track to nature.
