Re: Need an afocal adapter for Canon S5 new [Re: mosheriffic]

I just remembered, there is a company that makes an adapter that mounts on the bayonet mount and goes out over the lens. It has 58mm threads on the end so that filters, ect, can be used.
The addrs is: Lensmateonline.com

Ron, thanks for the photos! Those are impressively sharp for being hand-held. I didn't even recommend this method to my friend because I was skeptical that a person could hold their hand steady enough, but obviously it can be done. Those are great.

I'm familiar with the lensmate adapters, but I couldn't figure out a way to adapt that 58mm thread to an eyepiece holder.

It takes a lot of patience to get those shots. My camera has image stability built in, which helps loads! Also the Moon being very bright. The first was taken at about 1/450 sec. The second was shot at 1/60 sec.
A good way to figure out the right combination is to set up in the daytime and try various terrestrial objects.
I,ve been thinking about getting Steady Pix from Orion. It clamps around the eyepiece and allows the camera to move in several different axis.
A step down ring could be used to match the threads on the T-ring. Here is the real problem: The objective lens on the camera has to touch or almost touch the eyepiece, to bring it to focus! I was right up against the rubber eye cup on the 25mm plossl.
