You can buy sheets of black felt that has adhesive on the back at your local arts and crafts supply shop. It works great and it's not nearly as expensive as the ProtoStar flocking.

While somewhat dated, I think you'll be interested in this CN review & testing of different materials.

It's not the same. Felt will shed fibers. The Protostar material is Rayon-based (I believe) and won't shed fibers inside your telescope.

Scopestuff has excellent flocking material that is easy to use.

I'll second that. My ED80 and SN6 are both flocked with the Scopestuff stuff - nice contrast increase in both, and no shedding. Be careful of the adhesive, though - it sticks RIGHT NOW, and is a pain to remove if you don't get your placement just right.

To stop the felt shedding - apply a liberal coating of hairspray before application

I've posted this before, but don't want to go searching for the old post.

When I flock a small diameter tube I usually apply the flocking material directly to a sheet of Mylar or acetate purchased from an art supply house. I then cut the sheet to size to make a sleeve that inserts into the telescope tube, seal the meeting edge with tape (not on the flocked side), slip it into the telescope tube and secure it with the normal tube attachments that hold finders, focusers and cells in place. This isn't a refractor, but here's a small RFT treated that way.

Ron Ravenburg's method is probably the best for a tube that size. I asked, because on a larger sized tube, such as a Yazoo tube (my previous experiences) or Sonotube, many of us use a small 2-3" roller on a pole- paint the inside of the tube with a flat black enamel- paint a 2nd wet coat and cap one end and pour in a few cups of sawdust, swirl it around- then dump it out. Let it dry- then roller one more coat on... gives a good anti-reflective surface, the sawdust adding a texture to the surface. Obviously a little tough to do in a smaller tube.
